Fill in the spaces in the text on skin renewal using the following terms, so that it makes sense. Place the terms in the right positions:

The basal cell layer, as the lower layer of the epidermis, lies directly above the dermis, which supplies it efficiently with nutrients through the blood.

The basal cell layer is also called the Add the correct word here , since the cells constantly divide or “germinate“. The newly-formed cells are pushed to the Add the correct word here by the next cells formed. In this process they pass through different stages of development. At first, cell appendages and cell contacts, which have a spinous appearance, are formed; therefore this layer is also called the Add the correct word here. Above this follows the granular layer, in which cells with small keratin-filled „granular structures“ as well as small Add the correct word here (lamellar bodies) are formed. At this point the process of Add the correct word here begins, whereby the cells lose their nuclei and become stiff and immobile. On the skin surface, the cells of the cornified layer are completely filled with keratin. At this stage of development they are therefore also called Add the correct word here (keratinocytes).

Between 0.5g and1g of dead cornified cells are released from the skin daily, which we all lose unnoticed. The greatest portion of household dust consists of these dead, desquamated skin cells.

House dust mites feed on these skin scales. They especially like beds, because they like warmth and find many skin scales there. The feces of the house dust mites can provoke an allergy and is the source of the “house-dust allergy”.

For a complete regeneration, the healthy skin requires ca. four weeks (28 days). The function of the cornified layer is, as the outer skin layer, especially important: it serves as a barrier to harmful environmental influences.
