Skin cleaning

In cleaning the skin this general rule applies: “As little as possible, as much as necessary”.

That means that the hands must not be cleaned with skin cleaning agents unless they are dirty or stained. For example, cleaning the hands after wearing gloves is not absolutely necessary.

When you use skin cleaning agents or buy them for private use, you will get a “skin-friendly” product if you pay attention to the following:

  • The ph value should be pH-neutral (about 5.5) in order not to overtax the acid skin mantle.
  • The product should be free of artificial colour, perfumes and preservatives, as these substances can provoke an allergic reaction.
  • The product should be free of solvents and abrasives.

Lukewarm water should be used to clean the skin. After cleaning, the hands should be carefully dabbed dry with the softest disposable paper tissue available. In no case should you reuse customer towels, as residue of, for example, hair colouring agents or shampoo may be found on them which can harm the skin and even produce allergies. Vigorous rubbing leads to abrasion of the outer cornified layer and can thus increase the damage to the skin barrier.
